The God Who Knows Us and Is STILL For Us

O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.

Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O LORD, You know it all.

Psalm 139:1-4

God’s continual concern for us is staggering. He knows every thought we think, every word before we say it, and every time we move.

Being loud, charismatic, beautiful, or famous do not make any difference in how aware God is of us. God looks right past all those things and searches our hearts.

Because He loves us, He also knows our sadness and saves our tears. “You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8).

I have found that God’s attentiveness toward me is one of the most comforting things I can meditate on when life is hard. When my heart is troubled, when I feel pressured, when I’m broken, or when my feelings have been crushed or hurt—to know God sees and cares about that pain or trouble is so consoling.

After remembering that God cares so much about him that He put his tears in a bottle, David then confidently declares:
“Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call;
This I know, that God is for me.” (Psalm 56:9)

The God who knows everything we will say—even the things we shouldn’t say—before we say it; and who hears our every single thought; He is for us!! “This I know, that God is for me.” How beautiful are those words—God is on our side and when we call, He is for us.
